  General wig care and guidelines:

Caring for new wig topTOP

• By the time you receive the wig in the mail, it is practically ready to wear. To see the natural shape of the wig, simply place your hands inside the wig, and give the wig a good shake to loosen the fibers and fluff it through with a wig brush.
• Understand, that placing each piece of hair in its place, doesn’t mean it is going to look natural.
• Using wig brushes, combs and other styling accessories makes styling easy. Also it can greatly extend the life of your wig.
• Use special wig products (such as gel, hair spray) to achieve the style you’ve always wanted.
• With wigs, many different styles and looks are endless.

  Putting on a wig topTOP

1. Prepare your hair before putting on a wig.

Mid length to long hair:
• First make flat pin curls out of sections of your hair. To prevent bumps and bulges keep your hair evenly distributed over your head.
Short to medium short hair:
• Simply spray your hairline and brush back the straggling ends.
Little to no hair:
• Use a wig tape or a wig liner to secure your wig into place.

2. Putting on the wig.

• Using both hands, hold the wig by the nape where the label is.
• Position your head forward. Position the front of the wig directly above your eyebrows and slip the wig towards your back like you would a bathing cap. Push the wig back so it is slightly below your natural hairline. Position the ear tabs so that it is in front of your ears – never covering them. Now check your fit.
• Most wigs are fitted with adjustable Velcro, belt or clips. Use this to adjust the fit of your wig to your head. You can use bobby pins for extra security.
• Check for any stray hairs all around the wig.

Different face shapes and matching wigs topTOP
This section will guide you to find the perfect wig style that fits best to your face shape. There are 7 different face shapes that are most common.

Oval
• Egg shape in appearance the oval shaped face suits most wigs well. The face is longer than wide, with the jaw-line naturally receding from the cheek-bones. Because the oval shaped face has no one specific dominant area, oval shaped face will look good with most styles, length and texture.

Round
• Adding height will make the round shaped face look more natural. Bob styles that curve around your face will look rounder.

Diamond
• Diamond shaped face starts with a narrow jaw-line with protruding cheek-bones and narrow again towards the forehead. Bob style with short bangs work best with this face shape. Avoid wigs that add volume on the sides of your face, this will compliment the strong cheek-bones making it appear fuller.

Square
• Square shaped face features are wide hairline and jaws-line. Wigs with volume on top that narrows towards the sides are ideal for this face shape. To add extra volume comb the hair away from the forehead.

Heart
• Heart shaped face has a narrow jaw-line which gradually pass the cheek-bone growing wider as towards the forehead. Wigs bob style wigs with bangs are ideal for this face shape. Comb the bangs over your forehead and the sides closer to your face.

Pear
• Pear shaped face, as the name implies has a round jaw-line with small forehead. Wigs with volume on all sides of crown are ideal for this face shape. Tease the hair to add volume and width.

Oblong
• Oblong faces are long and narrow usually with a flat top head. Wig that cover the sides and the forehead are ideal, add volume up top to create a fuller head to create the illusion of a rounder head.

Measuring your head for wig size topTOP

• Measure you head before you place an order. Using a tape measure, measure your head following your hairline. Make sure to measure above and around your ears. All wigs can be adjusted to better fit your head by tightening or loosening the tabs located at the back of the wig. If your wig is still too large or loose, you may want to consider purchasing a Comfy Grip. The Comfy Grip has been found to be beneficial for people who have experienced partial to total hair loss.

Match the size of your head to the following sizes.

Petite
19” ~ 20 ½”

Petite to average
20 ½” ~ 21 ½”

Average
21 ½” ~ 22 ½”

Large

  Washing your wig topTOP

• You must know when and how to wash, dry and condition your wig. You’ll need the right wig care products.
• The guidelines vary for washing your wig. Generally, you should wash your wig every twenty to thirty wears or four to six weeks. If you are around heavy smoke, perfume, or other strong odors, you should wash if more often.
• Look for these signs to see if your wig needs to be washed. It seems dull, lifeless, over sprayed, or tangled from too much teasing. Any one of these signs are indication that your wig needs to be washed.

1. First, you want to gently brush your wig starting from the bottom in small sections. This will remove any knots and spray buildup.
2. Place your wig in a sink or a basin. Fill the sink with *Cool water, mix with wig shampoo according to the directions. (Wig shampoo are designed to clean fibers gently and thoroughly)
3.Soak your wig for five to ten minutes depending on how soiled it is. *Never rub, twist, or wring it. After five to ten minutes of soaking, swoosh the wig back and forth. Use a small brush to clean the cap of any makeup stains.
4.To properly rinse your wig. Fill the sink with *Cool water and rinse gently but thoroughly.
Following these steps will not only help to keep your wig clean. It will also extend the life of your wigs.

Drying your wig:

• Take a towel and pat out the excess water. Drying your wig is important because the weight of water can stretch the fibers and ruin the style.
• Hang your wig loosely on a wig stand to dry at room temperature. *Wig stands help the wig dry in its original shape.
• Never place a wet wig on a Styrofoam head or a blockhead. This can stretch the wig cap.
• Never comb a wet wig.
• Never use a blow dryer to dry your wig. It only takes a few hours to air dry, air drying will keep your wig looking healthy with manageable fibers.

Conditioning your wig:

• Most wig conditioners contain Kaneka oil that softens the dryness and brings out the luster and mobility of the fiber. Making it easier to style your wig.
• Spray the entire surface area of your wig with wig conditioner.
• Gently fluff in the conditioner thoroughly using a pick comb or your fingers.
• Style your wig after the conditioner is completely dry.

  Styling your wig topTOP

Basic techniques:
• Style your wig only when it is completely dry.
• Place your wig on a blockhead or a wig stand. *This allows you to see all sides of the wig.

Wigs with tight curls, waves, or soft curls:
• Use short lifting strokes with a wig brush.

Wig that are smooth and straight:
• Use long even strokes.

Longer wigs with ringlet curls:
• Use a pick comb or run your fingers in lifting movements.

To add more volume on any style:
• Brush in the opposite direction of the style then smooth the fiber into the desired shape.

Once you achieve the style you desired, spray it using wig spray.

Wig spraying methods:
• Traditional method: lightly mist the entire wig’s surface area. Start from the back and work your way forward. Try to keep the spray can ten to twelve inches from your head to prevent over spraying your wig.
• Latest method: This method gives you a softer more natural look. Hold the can about six inches from your head. Separate the wig fibers with your fingers and direct the spray at the roots. This holds the base of the style firm while the ends remain soft and loose. With either method, don’t brush or touch your wig when it is wet from spray. This will ruin the preset style.

Some days your wig may only need to be slightly touched up. With a pick comb or brush, give height to flattened areas or reposition your curl.

Professional tips:
Use these tips to give your wig a more natural look.

• If you wear you bangs off your face, position the directly below your natural hairline. Make sure to tuck in any stray hairs.
• Experiment with your wig to see which style best fits your face.
• Hats and headbands are fashionable. Not only are they great accessories, it can also be used to cover up your hairlines giving you a feeling of extra security.

Use these tips to achieve the wet look.

• Using wig conditioner, lightly spray it over the wig and style it to your liking with your fingers or by using a pick comb while the wig is still wet.
